I think Yellen's problem is she is an independent thinker and not viewed as a team player. Doing good work and correctly picking major economic turns is not a g'tee of success as an economist as i found out working for CERI.
Economics for as much as it pays lip service to innovation, as source of productivity and higher living standards, is inherently conservative. Summers is the conservative pick.
